A Verné rug, also spelled Verni or Verneh, is a handmade Caucasian floor covering previously known as a Sileh. Typically woven in two separate pieces and joined at the center, its design features square compartments arranged in horizontal pairs per panel. These squares contain large, backward S-shaped dragon motifs filled with smaller Z-shaped patterns, often alternating in color between rows. The rug is framed by a narrow border, sometimes decorated with reciprocal trefoils. Verné rugs are believed to have originated in the town of Jebrail (Dzhebrail) in the Karabagh region of southern Azerbaijan.
