Beautiful soft colors abound in this stunning antique Shirvan runner. Hand-knotted in the villages of present-day Azerbaijan, this rug is a unique piece of tribal weaving and displays a wide variety of classic Caucasian symbology. The main border contains stylized oak-leaf and chalice symbols while the seven medallions feature the eight-pointed “Star of Wisdom” within the larger “Wheel of Life” motif. Birds, diamonds, and other abstract geometric forms are spread throughout the field creating an extremely intriguing composition.
In great vintage condition with small areas of wear as shown in pictures. Sides and ends secured.
